Chadds Ford Days

Chadds Ford Days (Chadds Ford Historical Society) is where volunteer scouts go to a fair
where other people sell various items, in order to collect donations for the troop. Scouts
work in shifts while the adults help with parking traffic. Last time we went, the scouts got
free funnel cakes. This volunteer outing is on Sept. 11th & Sept. 12th. We position a center
outside the entrance of the fair with supplies needed and the adults go down to the parking
field. You stay at the center until some other scouts arrive to take your place. Chadds Ford
Days is one way we acquire money for our troop.

White Clay Creek Outing

Troop 31 left on the 15th of October to white clay creek ad arrived back on October 17th.
During the outing scouts either participated in the rowing merit badge or the photography
merit badge. The rowing merit badge scouts visited the Newport Rowing club but the
problem was there was too high winds to actually get in the water so instead we had to use
the ERGs (an indoor rowing simulator that records your speed and distance). We held
races on the ERGs to see who was the fastest and were taught how to enter and exit the
rowboat. The photogrophy merit badgers went on a beautiful hike taking pictures and
enjoying nature. This was a great and relaxing outing and I can't wait to go on it next year.
